How to measure your windows

It’s important that you measure accurately for made-to-measure curtains so we’ve come up with a handy little guide to measuring which will ensure your curtains are the perfect fit.

All you need is a measuring tape and notepad – and possibly a step ladder if you have high windows!

Measure your pole between the two finials (decorative ends). Your pole will usually be wider than your window.

Add an extra inch to the width measurement to allow for some overlap when your curtains are closed.

Your width measurement will be the same regardless of your choice of heading.

*If you have a track instead of a pole then simply measure it from one end to the other.

FOR PENCIL PLEAT & PINCH PLEAT HEADINGS:

Measure from the tiny suspension eye on the ring to your required length.

FOR EYELET & TAB TOP HEADINGS:

Measure from the top of your pole to your required length.

Decide where you would like your curtains to finish.

Window length: measure to the top of your sill

Below windowsill length: measure around 4-6inches below your windowsill

Floor length: measure to the floo

*If you would like your curtains to pool on the floor add 3inches to your floor length measurement.

TIP NO.1:

When measuring for floor length curtains, not all floors are even so we recommend you take a few measurements along the window and choose the shortest.

TIP NO.2:

If you have a radiator below your window then your curtains should finish an inch above to allow the heat to circulate the room – or you will lose it all behind your curtains!!

It really is that simple!
